Why is the sub-base so important?
Think about your house itself. It must be built on foundations to last. The same goes for your patio. In order to ensure the longevity of your patio the appropriate sub-base must be installed correctly.
The sub base is made up of two layers of compacted hardcore laid on to the excavated depth of subsoil.
This is the main load bearing layer for your patio and it is essential that this preparation work is carried out as its spreads the load of you patio meaning it will support your paving evenly over the ground.
Products are then laid on a full bed of mortar or sand depending on the product. Slurry primer is used which adds adhesion between the paving product and mortar bed.
The paving pattern is also an essential part of your patio. There are vast amounts of paving patterns that can be laid and we will offer our guidance to create the best effect and make the most of the space provided. These can range from random pattern to stretcher bond, bespoke tailored patterns with border or feature band borders. Laying the paving on a 45 degree angle to the property making the area feel more spacious or incorporating bespoke items into the patio area such as circles or diamond shapes or bespoke cut stone which we can supply from some our specialist suppliers.
